The 2022 Château d'Escurac feels a little disjointed on the nose, with some greenness behind the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins and a dark berry fruit tone laced with black tea. It just comes across as a little dour on the finish.
Aromas of dark fruit and licorice with hints of sandalwood and cigar box. Solid and structured, it has a medium body and dusty, lightly chewy tannins. Firm finish. Merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Try from 2026.
Intense tannins here, reflecting a powerful terroir even before you add in the impact of the 2022 vintage. This is a wine that will go the distance, and still retains freshness, cassis and powerful tannic grip. Needs a few years in bottle, but this is classic Left Bank typicity, full bodied with impact. Owners Marete Larsen and Anne Landureau, clay gravel soils, 26hl/h yield. 21ha estate located in Civrac-Médoc. Delivers on its En Primeur promise, a buy.
