Note di degustazione
From the flagship property of proprietor Jean Guyon, the 2011 Rollan de By is a blend of 70% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. Of nearly classified growth quality, it boasts attractive cedary, spicy, licorice, black currant and tobacco leaf notes along with medium body. While it does not have the power or richness of such great vintages as 2010 and 2009, there is a lot to like about this beautiful Medoc. A sleeper of the vintage, it can be enjoyed over the next 3-4 years.

70% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot. Attractive nose with good complexity – some classic claret characteristics (cedar, cigar, cassis) on show here. Smooth and succulent. A good example: typical Bordeaux with sensitive winemaking and an expressive, satisfying palate. (RH)
Lively crimson. Light nose and then some oaky sweetness on the front palate. Rather clumsy, though superficially attention-grabbing. (JR)
