Bright, dark ruby-red. Very ripe but primary aromas of red fruits, smoky minerality and licorice, plus a topnote of blood orange. In a distinctly spicy style, showing terrific chalky lift and powerful underlying minerality. This very highly concentrated wine shows some superripe notes but also terrific definition and energy. Ultimately more complex and delineated than Magnien's Bonnes-Mares bottling. Finishes very long, with big, ripe tannins reaching the front teeth.

Bright, full red. Sexy high-pitched perfume combines red cherry, blood orange, lavender, red rose and spearmint. Juicy but youthfully imploded, showing more aromatic complexity than pliancy of texture today. Crunchy flavors of crushed red fruits, spices and licorice are lifted by fresh rose. A very long, scented wine of great finesse, but in need of a decade of patience to fully express itself.
The 2013 Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru has a very pure bouquet with dark berry fruit, hints of licorice, undergrowth and mineral emerging with time but at their own pace. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly chalky tannins and good acidity. This is very refined and focused, the black fruit on the entry becoming more red fruit toward the finish. There is good persistence in the mouth. This has good potential.
