Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2018-2022, Neal Martin, May 2019
The 2002 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a perfumed bouquet with soy-tinged dark berry fruit, Earl Grey and morel/loamy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft texture and good volume. Yet it does not deliver the complexity and terroir expression that I have discerned on other vintages. The wine itself seems to lose interest on the finish. Tasted at Sarah Marsh MW’s 2002 Red Burgundy tasting.

Light shaded ruby. Hint of Vegemite. (Great for Australians.) Juicy fruit in a fairly simple way. It's certainly still very much alive but I wonder whether it really has true grand cru depth? Lots of fun to drink now but just a tiny tad simple. (JR)
