Punteggio 85-87/100 · Da bere 2017-2022, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

The 2015 Nuits St Georges Villages, formerly a domaine bottling and now négoçiant as they had to pull out some vines, was missing just a little depth and cohesion compared to the other village crus in the négoçiant range of Méo-Camuzet. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rigid tannin and it just needs more flesh to come through towards the finish. Another racking will help, but I still think it needs more substance.

(Méo will not offer an estate Nuits-Saint-Georges from 2015 as he has uprooted most of his vines in Bas de Combe; half of this cuvée is actually from domain fruit): Dark red with ruby tones. A hint of reduction to the aromas of raspberry, smoke and soil. Plush and fleshy but reduced, with an iron note to the black raspberry fruit. Quite tight and dry, and less evolved than most of Méo's other village wines in 2015. Not yet generous on the back end but the tannins are not hard. This will need at least a few years of cellaring to blossom.
