2013 Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses

Deep red-ruby. Deep nose offers scents of blackberry, violet, licorice, minerals and smoke. Sweet and silky on entry, then tight-grained and gripping in the middle, communicating a strong stony character and serious medicinal reserve. Really saturates the mouth on the very long, saline, soil-inflected finish, with the tannins coated by the wine's serious extract.

The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a very intense bouquet with layers of dark cherry, crème de cassis, a touch of juniper and blackcurrant pastilles. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, a generous dash of white pepper and a very long, intense finish that maintains superb delineation. This is a long-term Amoureuses although there are only four barrels this year.
