2021 Raymond Lafon

The 2021 Raymond-Lafon continues to display that light adhesive scent, with notes quince but less of the marmalade element I observed last time. The palate is well balanced, with a racy entry, fine depth and plenty of energy, plus a dab of ginger on the finish. Sure, it's not the most complex Raymond-Lafon in recent years, but it is a very commendable wine for the vintage.

The 2021 Raymond-Lafon has a striking bouquet with quince, marmalade and a light adhesive scent in the background. The palate is quite viscous on the entry. There’s very good weight here with a light spiciness toward the finish. This is maybe not quite as complex as I was expecting compared to its showing from barrel, but still a very decent effort.

The 2021 Raymond-Lafon has a very pure bouquet of pure honeysuckle and quince aromas and a hint of saffron. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity. Not as intense as other Sauternes in this vintage, but razor-sharp on the citric finish. Excellent.
