The 2021 Castera has a pleasant nose with decent fruit concentration and definition, the oak neatly integrated with fine mineralité . The palate is fresh and vibrant, a lively Cru Bourgeois. What it lacks in power is compensated by the vivacity on the finish. Enjoy this over the next decade.
Clear undergrowth and earth on the opening here, although also bright redcurant fruits, and a lick of slate. 43% new oak, Eric Boissenot consultant, estate located in Saint-German d'Esteuil heading up to where the Estuary widens as it approaches the Atlantic.
The 2021 Castera has a relatively riper nose for a Médoc, featuring upfront blueberry and blackberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and fine grip; nothing complex, but there’s decent substance on the finish. Fine.
