The 2018 Pommard La Levrière is showing very nicely from bottle, offering up complex aromas of raspberries and cherries complemented by hints of loamy soil, licorice, dried flowers and espresso roast. Medium to full-bodied, layered and elegantly muscular, it's as refined as it was in barrel, built around powdery tannins and lively acids.

The 2018 Pommard La Levrière Vieilles Vignes comes from vines around 80 years old and was picked on August 29, the first for the domaine. It has a pure bouquet of blackberry, raspberry coulis and light crushed violet aromas that take time to unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe black cherry fruit laced with dark chocolate and menthol notes, leading to a finely proportioned yet grippy finish. A little "inward-looking" at present, it will require 4–5 years in bottle.
While the nose is presently firmly reduced there is good freshness and verve suffusing the overtly powerful, dense and serious medium weight plus flavors where there is plenty of salinity on the youthfully austere, firm, dusty and balanced finish. A high quality villages.
