Full bottle 1,050 g. 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot. Aged for 12 months in French oak, 20% new. Natural cork closure. RS <1 g/l, free SO 2 19 mg/l, total SO 2 30 mg/l. Healthy, sweet, perfumed claret with real concentration. Obviously a very good vintage. For now, or the future. (JR)

68% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot. 20% new oak for 12 months. Deep cherry red. Lively cassis nose, open and vibrant and just a little bit leafy in a good way. Lots of fruit up front with a touch of chocolate on the finish. Not especially long but rounded and fruity. Tannins are still a little firm for drinking now but all in balance. (JH)
The 2016 Fourcas-Borie has a more floral bouquet than its stablemate Ducluzeau, presenting a mixture of red and black fruit tinged with peony and incense. The palate is underpinned by fine tannin and a beautiful bead of acidity. This feels linear and quite grippy in the mouth, and the graphite-tinged finish lingers nicely. Superb.
An bright array of wild red fruit on the nose, as well as cassis and tobacco, leading to the palate that has a fresh dark fruit core with the 15 per cent petit verdot adding grip at the punchy finish. Try from 2021.
