The 2020 Château D'Arce is a gem of a wine as well as an incredible value. Coming from the cooler Castillon region east of Saint-Emilion and a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, it has a beautiful, incredibly impressive bouquet of black raspberries, ripe cherries, truffle, camphor, and cassis. Balanced, medium to full-bodied, and elegant on the palate, it has the more structured style of the vintage as well as a solid spine of acidity. It will have 15+ years of prime drinking.
Full bottle 1,347 g. Certified HVE. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Part aged in Sauternes barrels. Bold and tropical on the nose: green mango, pineapple, passion-fruit cheesecake. Good breadth and confidence on the palate, dollops of creamy tropical fruit and just a little scoop of creamy custard, a sprinkle of oak spice, a prickle of nettle, green gooseberry. satisfying and impressively good for the price.
