Note di degustazione
The 2016 Morey-Saint-Denis Ruchots 1er Cru has a straightforward bouquet with raspberry and cranberry aromas, just a little confit in style, but missing a little delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly charred opening, dry tannin, gentle grip with a spicy, green finish. This is just lacking some sophistication and breeding. Tasted at the Domaine Direct Tasting in London.

Transparent crimson. Sweet oak on the nose (although apparently he has embraced amphorae – unusually for Burgundy). And then some transparency on the mid palate and definitely chewy on the end. Not the most relaxed wine but it’s trying hard! Wait a while. (JR)
(these vines are farmed biodynamically, and the yield was limited to 28 hectoliters per hectare due to some frost; 60% vendange entier ): Healthy dark red. Riper and deeper on the nose than the Clos Sorbé, showing good mineral lift to the black cherry aroma. Altogether different on the palate too, with its very silky, fine-grained texture given definition by lively minerality. Distinctly riper and more flavorful than the Clos Sorbé, finishing with palate-staining length as well as an impression of elegance.
