Cask sample. Light to mid cherry red. Delightfully peppery, dark-red fruit. Fruity but without obvious fruit sweetness. Sweeter fruit on the palate but cut through by notable freshness. The tannins are polished but firm enough to hold the fruit at the centre. Surprisingly persistent, too. (JH)

The 2021 Bourgogne Rouge is quite floral on the nose like the Passetoutgrain, with good definition, raspberry and mulberry scents gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and fine tannins. It puts on weight towards the bright finish. Lovely.
