Note di degustazione
(from vines at the top of the hill; vinified with 50% whole clusters and aged in one-year-old barrels; 15 hectoliters per hectare produced, vs. 25 for the La Justice): Bright medium red. Reticent, musky nose offers scents of red berries, coffee and animal fur. At once sweet and brisk in the mouth, with a mineral component lifting the flavors of raspberry and rose petal. Tight, nicely delineated premier cru with a juicy, long, tactile finish leaving saline traces behind on the palate. There's barely six inches of soil here over rock, according to Vincent. A superb village wine in the making.

The 2013 Gevrey Chambertin Evocelles contains more whole cluster than the la Justice at 70% of the total blend, matured with 30% new oak. It has a softer bouquet than the la Justice with crushed strawberry, mulberry and red plum aromas, touches of rose petal in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-like core of fruit, fresh acidity, but just tapering in a little toward the finish. I think this will put on more weight by the time of bottling.
