Compared to the 2020, the 2019 Château Lamothe-Bergeron is more expressive and complex, with a softer, more rounded mouthfeel. Sweet red and black fruits, flowery incense, spice, and tobacco notes all emerge on the nose, and it's balanced, medium-bodied, and incredibly satisfying. It's drinking great today yet will evolve gracefully through 2033.

The 2019 Lamothe-Bergeron has an attractive bouquet where the raspberry element is more expressive than the blackberry; light cedar notes emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with rather coarse tannins, and stony and a little hard on the finish. As I mentioned in my primeur note, the wood seems a little out of sync with the fruit here.
The 2019 Lamothe-Bergeron is a super-expressive Haut-Médoc with lovely aromatics and tons of energy. Dried herbs, leather, tobacco, mint and crushed flowers build nicely as this mid-weight wine shows off its personality. There is a bit of nerviness on the finish, but I find that attractive.
