Note di degustazione
Vivid ruby-red. Heady aromas of candied red berries and incense are complicated by notes of lavender and smoky minerals. Supple, deeply flavored and broad, offering intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and an exotic floral pastille nuance. Finishes smooth, smoky and very long, with increasing sweetness and even, slow-building tannins that add shape. This is an outstanding example of a "basic" Châteauneuf, especially from a challenging vintage.

60% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 20% others. 20% whole-bunch fermented and 80% destemmed, vinified in concrete tank. Aged for 18 months, 80% in oak (2-year-old demi-muids and barriques of three to five years old) and the remaining 20% in concrete tank. Quite deep crimson. Tired, overripe notes on the nose – discordant. Uncomfortable and mousy to taste. (JR)
The only Châteauneuf made in the vintage, the 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape should be very good, if not outstanding. Showing a classic, peppery and dark-fruit-driven profile, it flows onto the palate with medium-bodied richness, a solid core of fruit and firm tannin. It should round into form nicely with another year of evolution and drink nicely for 5-6 years.
