Punteggio 13/20 · Da bere 2020-2021, Jancis Robinson MW, Jan 2022

Diam 10 closure. Greenish straw. Oh dear. Candified plus bad eggs on the nose. Really quite dirty dishcloths. Unappetising. One of the worse wines to have crossed my palate in a while. (JR)

The 2018 Haut-Bergey has a very straightforward, static bouquet of earthy black fruit that just lacks a bit of personality and pizzazz. The palate is medium-bodied with scrawny tannins and hollow on the midpalate, leading to an oddly lactic finish. Perplexing.

Lots of earthy red and black fruits, cedary herbs, and loamy earth notes emerge from the 2018 Château Haut-Bergey, which is medium-bodied and has a charming, rounded, nicely textured style on the palate. It's a rock-solid, balanced, complex Bordeaux to enjoy over the coming 10-12 years.

Haut Bergey

Since Paul Garcin took over running this estate in 2014, it has become one of Pessac-Léognan’s most exciting addresses. Biodynamic and with a minimalist approach, Ch. Haut-Bergey makes pure and expressive wines that offer both great value and a taste of the modern Bordeaux.
