2014 Vergelegen Merlot Reserve

The 2014 Merlot Reserve starts off with stewed plums and pan-seared nuts on the nose. On the palate, the wine shows more rustic and becomes tannic on the finish. This leaves me wanting more complexity and depth. The fruit is evolving and the tannins are too aggressive to enjoy without food, but the fruit condition seems unhealthy and about to expire. Drink it quick!
