Ripe black cherries, mulberries, underbrush, and damp earth notes all emerge from the 2019 Château Gigault Cuvée Viva, a medium-bodied, fruit-forward, nicely balanced Blaye that's ideal for drinking over the coming 4-6 years.

The 2019 Cuvée Viva offers red plum and raspberry aromas on the floral nose, which perhaps needs just a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and ripe, with supple tannins and a dab of black pepper toward the finish. Fine, but give it a couple of years in bottle.
The 2019 Cuvée Viva is soft, plummy and alluring. Sweet red cherry, spice, mint, leather and tobacco meld together. This forward, easygoing Côtes de Blaye is a charmer. Drink it over the next few years.
Power and finesse, with silky tannins alongside blueberry and raspberry fruits. Grilled cedar gives this a sweet edge on the finish. Unfussy, one to look out for and good value.
