Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2018-2035, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2016

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Chaignots has an attractive bouquet with vivid redcurrant, raspberry and crushed strawberry scents that are precise and focused. The palate is very well balanced, perhaps hoisted up by some generous new oak that lends vanilla veins to the red fruit, rendering it very seductive. Modern in style, quite fleshy but I would like to see more of the terroir come through rather than the winemaking. Tasted September 2016.

100% whole bunch. ‘Has to be fairly small parcel to go to the trouble of removing big stalks by hand.’ Dark ruby. Quite gamey on the nose – you might even think it came from further south if it were served blind. Good raciness and energy. Very clean but not that persistent. Dry finish. (JR)
