(50% vendange entier ): Deep red-ruby. Delicate floral lift to the aromas of blueberry and spices. Smooth and pliant in the mouth, in a distinctly tender style for a wine from this producer. Dark berry flavors are complemented by a note of bitter chocolate. Less dense than the Corbeaux and Evocelles, and giving an impression of lower acidity. The tannins arrive late, turning a bit dusty with air.

With around 30% whole bunch and matured entirely in new oak, the 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle Vieilles Vignes has a very harmonious bouquet, here the oak nicely enmeshed with the dark cherry and red plum fruit. The palate is sweet on the entry, but I find this more energetic and tense compared to the Corbeaux '13 with a sorbet-like finish. Very fine.
