A bit bretty on the nose and solid even austere on the palate. Charmless. (JR)

Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, classement 2003. Developed rim. Quite evolved nose with lots of acidity. Relative lightweight but zappy. (JR)
Surprisingly soft for a 2002, with hints of red currants, herbs, and damp earth, this wine is medium-bodied, lean, competently made, but relatively unexciting. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. I have been waiting for this property to reassert itself since being taken over by the Roederer champagne firm. So far the early efforts have been good, but relatively uninspiring.
