An intense and extremely complex nose with some aged pine nuts, saffron and caramel to the vanilla cream, bread crust, crackers, apricots and roasted sweet potato. Really bright and concentrated on the full-bodied palate with a creamy, “endless” finish that lingers well over three minutes, if not longer. It is incredibly tasty now, but can still hold.

Heavy flask-shaped bottle. Pale greenish gold. Obviously very long lees-aged and back to the Champagne grape varieites after my (delighted) dalliance with Xarel-lo. Very fine integration of burnished flavours if just a tiny bit more vigorous a mousse than the Gramona sparkling wine. Lots of freshness, a light metallic note but clearly lots of finesse and lees ageing. Fine bead, and just a hint of sweet lemons on the end. The sweetness and acidity seem a tad less integrated than in the Gramona wines but this is clearly a very important bottling for the Lunelli family. (JR)
