The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru, which was completely de-stemmed, has a clean, crisp bouquet, very pure and defined, iris and violet scents emerging with aeration although the aromatics never fully let go. The palate has a soft entry, presaging a quite rounded, sensual Les Suchots packed with raspberry and wild strawberry fruit. The finish displays impressive mineralité and persistence, a pleasant sour cherry note emerging with time in the glass. Excellent. Tasted at the Domaine de L’Arlot tasting at La Cabotte in London.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru shows some stem addition on the well-defined nose, just a slight leafiness developing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy entry and nicely judged acidity. This is certainly one of the more sensual Vosne-Romanées, though it maybe it has dispensed with some of the charm on the finish that it displayed in barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
Bright crimson. Rather occluded nose. Bright fruit. But then a pretty drying finish. Not a charmer. Still quite chewy. Definitely needs food. Rather sharp, intrusive acidity. (JR)
Sweet red-bramble fruit on the nose. Attractive undergrowth character – mushroom and fern – makes this typically burgundian, but with bright, clean fruit to give clarity. Rounded and chewy on the palate with mouth-watering acidity and a savoury, gastronomic finish. (RH)
