Punteggio 88+/100 · Da bere 2019-2025, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2016

Bright medium red. Reticent aromas of red berries, underbrush, mocha and coffee. Conveys an impression of breadth but less in the way of primary fruit than the basic village offering, with elements of spice, mint, herbs and underbrush currently in the foreground. More saline and complex than the regular village wine but this will need a few years of cellaring.

(12.2% natural alcohol, chaptalized to 12.7%): Good full medium red. Reticent aromas of raspberry and underbrush are lifted by a mineral element. Like the basic village Gevrey, this is not entirely pristine yet, but its minerality and riper acidity give it better definition and extend and lift the finish, which leaves saline and underbrush nuances behind. More power and mineral character here.

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Ostrea has a slightly austere blackberry and briary-scented nose with fine mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black and red fruit infused with citric like freshness, the finish poised and pure. Again, this is a beautiful Gevrey in the making from Trapet.
