Punteggio 83/100 · Da bere 2023-2026, Neal Martin, Aug 2023

The 2013 Tronquoy-Lalande has a light earthy nose that feels static. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins. This is hollow, and the touch of bell pepper on the finish covers a very simple and slightly enervated Saint-Estèphe. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year On tasting.

Very dark garnet. Sweet, but slightly tired fruit. Lacks freshness – even though it's much more concentrated than most 2013s. (JR)

Charming, with an edge of sweetness to the raspberry fruit, touches of smoked earth, undergrowth and mushroom, with gentle tobacco and cigar box. There is pleasure here, but the tannins are soft, and it is fully in the tertiary window. Harvest September 27 to October 12.

The 2013 Tronquoy-Lalande offers smudged raspberry coulis and strawberry scents on the nose, blackberries surfacing with aeration, quite pure in style. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, perhaps a little coarse compared to other vintages and I find that this tapers in abruptly towards the finish, leaving a touch of sour cherry on the aftertaste. Drink this over the next 5-7 years.
