The 2013 Cap du Moulin has a smudged, slightly leather, red berry nose with touches of tobacco coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp, saline entry. There is a sense of harmony on the mid-palate and though it attenuates towards the finish, it is blessed with a reassuring sense of composure here and certainly there are no signs of under-ripeness. This is a pleasant surprise in a tricky vintage and it should give up to a decade's worth of pleasure.

Quite a rudimentary nose although there is nice leatheriness on the palate and an animal character that gives an almost sour tone. Dark chocolate to finish. Traditional claret, and not for those who like their wine fastidiously clean. (RH)
Lean, austere, pinched and compact, this medium-bodied 2013 is best consumed over the next 4-5 years before it becomes more desiccated.
Black cherry, violet, a light herbal character. Quite dense and firm, but not austere. Very attractive perfume. No impression of a ‘bad’ vintage here, just a lighter style with less cellaring potential. (RH)
