Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2022-2029, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2020

Just as it was from barrel, the 2017 Croix Canon is fabulous. The Franc is especially showy today in the wine's strong aromatic presence. Deep, fleshy and totally seductive, the 2017 is just fabulous. Black cherry, chocolate, spice and licorice build into the racy, voluptuous finish. Readers who can find the 2017 when it is released in another year or two should not hesitate, as it is truly delicious.

The 2017 Croix Canon is a very serious second wine. Deep and explosive on the palate, the 2017 possesses remarkable depth and volume. Dark stone fruit, new leather, spice and menthol are some of the notes that fill out, but above all else, Croix Canon is a wine of textural depth and volume.

One of the second wines that knock it out of the park in the vintage, the 2017 Croix Canon offers more medium-bodied aromas and flavors as well as incredible finesse. Cassis, black cherries, lavender, and Provençal herbs, loads of floral characteristics, bright acidity, and fine tannin all emerge from this beautiful Saint-Emilion. It’s a wine to drink while you wait on the Grand Vin.

The 2017 Croix Canon is deep garnet-purple in color with a spicy nose of warm black plums, blueberries and mulberries with touches of cloves and sandalwood. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh, velvety and understated in the mouth with a lively finish.
