Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2032-2080, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Oct 2024

To be released as AP #12 one day, the 2023 Scharzhofberger Spätlese (Auction) opens with heavenly clear, very fine fruit with delicate slate notes. Rich, intense and juicy as well as spicy, this is a Riesling that is still characterized by its sulfur reduction, with delicate acidity and firm mineral expression. The highly promising Spätlese reveals a persistent salty finish, which was still very restrained in April. Give it time.

Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2024-2070, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous, Sep 2024

The 2023 Riesling Scharzhofberger Spätlese still has a touch of reduction, but the verve of citrus backed by creaminess shines through. passionfruit foliage fringes the lemon notes and leads to a palate that plunges into the cleanest candied lemon sweetness—tart, deliciously sharp and thrilling. The crystalline clarity gives the impression of naked wet slate. It's astonishing to have so much fruit and stone. Exquisite balance and tension make this endlessly long, stretching that impression of elegance into slow motion, making it even more apparent.

Punteggio 96+/100 · Da bere 2030-2070, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous

The 2023 Riesling Scharzhofberger Spätlese #12 opens with tender, salty smokiness and a whiff of promising reduction. The palate is as light and tender as the wingbeat of a butterfly, yet alive and vivid with an inherently cool, concise, linear brightness that clothes a gorgeous streak of sweetness. While shimmering with white peach and nectarine, this is essentially citric and zesty in nature. The 2023 unites the purest elegance and electric freshness. (Medium)
