Full bottle 1,309 g. From Martillac. 77% Merlot, 13% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on limestone were picked 23 September – 11 October. A total of 30 days’ maceration before 12 months in oak barrels (30% new). HVE3 certification. Mid dark garnet with a pale rim. Freshly aromatic – expressive of the appellation. Sweet, fruity start and a relatively low tannin level makes this wine one for fairly early drinking. Appetising dry, impressively persistent finish. GV (JR)

Aromas of sweet cherries and berries mingled with notions of burning embers and spices introduce the 2019 Ferran, a medium to full-bodied wine with powdery but youthfully assertive tannins.
The 2019 Ferran has retained the black plum and boysenberry nose, though it displays a little more clarity now than it showed from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, and nicely proportioned, leading to a harmonious graphite and white-pepper-tinged finish. Enjoy this over the next decade.
The 2019 Ferran is laced with savory herb, tobacco, mint, dried leaves and earthy notes, all of which add nuance to a core of dark and blackish fruits. This soft, understated 2019 is nicely done. It will drink well right out of the gate.
