Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2020-2037, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Nov 2019

The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges Village offers up aromas of ripe cherries, wild berries, smoked meats and spices. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, ample and fleshy, with fine but youthfully chewy structuring tannins, ripe acids and an open-knit profile. Unlike most vintages of this cuvée, it will drink well with minimal bottle age.

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Village comes from several parcels around the appellation, both north and south, and including some behind the winery, for a total of four hectares. It has an attractive bouquet of rose-petal-infused red cherry and crushed strawberry. The palate is well balanced and fresh in the mouth, the 20-30% new oak nicely integrated, and the finish is sharp, almost citrus-fresh. Fine.

A modern-style Nuits-Saint-Georges that doesn’t have any of the aggressive tannins so often associated with this appellation. Lovely, floral nose and a rather juicy balance of ripe cherries with lively acidity, the polished tannins building gently at the long, moderately dry finish. Better from 2020.

Cask sample. Mid cherry. Smells as if there is a little more oak sweetness to the aroma here. Peppery and juicy with lively acidity. Full of energy and the fine tannins are just giving it sufficient shape. (JH)
