Mid crimson. Sweet nose, pretty fleshy and velvety. Very firm, slightly chewy/metallic finish. A bit green on the end. Not complete. Definitely drying out. (JR)

This surprisingly powerful, medium to full-bodied, concentrated 1987 is a success for the vintage. The dark ruby color with no amber at the edge, is followed by an emerging bouquet of licorice, blackcurrants, herbs, and toasty new oak. It should be drunk over the next 7 years. Last tasted, 6/93.
The 1987 Clinet has a simple espresso- and orange rind-scented nose. It's rather monochromatic as you would expect given the vintage in question, but well defined nevertheless. The palate is medium-bodied with dry, obdurate tannins. This has good depth but it's hollow and missing flesh toward the finish. Bottles should be consumed by now. Taken from the Pomerol book authored by Neal Martin.
