Bright dark red. Aromas of dark raspberry, black cherry and animal fur. Still showing a touch of musky reduction but supple and rich in the md-palate, conveying strong saline minerality. Finishes with a note of oaky torrefaction.

(this and the subsequent samples had been racked into tank just prior to my visit; vinified with 30% whole clusters): Good bright, dark red. Liqueur-like aromas of kirsch and game. Fat and opulent but suave as well, with a silky richness and impressive depth to the dark fruit flavors. Finishes horizontal and persistent. This will give pleasure early.
The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin is another striking wine. Here the fruit takes on distinct dark red and blue tones, with underlying hints of iron, graphite and ferrous notes that add power and gravitas. Here the 20% whole clusters are much less evident if at all. The 2012 impresses for its pure, focused and gorgeous delineation. This is another standout. The 2012 finishes with gorgeous salinity and intensity.
30% whole bunch and 10% new oak. Very big and ripe on the nose. Slightly reduced but very exuberant. Massively ripe. Very demonstrative and rewarding. (JR)
