2013 Larmande

Note di degustazione
Under new management, Larmande appears to be set to rebound in quality after a period of listless performances. The 2013 exhibits elegant strawberry and black currant fruit intermixed with notions of incense, loamy soil and roasted herbs. Only 40% of the production made it into this fruity, easygoing, elegant and pure wine. The final blend was 80% Merlot and the rest mostly Cabernet Franc with a tiny dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon. This light- to medium-bodied St.-Emilion should drink well for 4-5 years.

Pure red fruit that is almost more like New World Pinot Noir than right bank Bordeaux! Lovely ripeness, even though there is a herbal character too. Higher tannins that anticipated on the finish. Finishes very chewy, in fact. Has the fruit purity to last, though, so would be worth ageing. (RH)
