The ruby-colored 1998 Charmes-Chambertin has blackberry and black cherry aromas. Medium-bodied, pure, and luxuriously-textured, this sweet and sexy wine will be at its best if consumed over the near-term. At present, its copious layers of jammy red fruits coat its tannins. Deep ruby-red. Knockout nose combines crushed blueberry and blackberry, violet and pepper. Thick and silky in the mouth but lively and delineated. Vibrant raspberry, red cherry and rose petal flavors are creamy and sweet but not quite confectionery. In fact, this very intensely flavored, impressively long wine shows a lovely light touch.
