Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2003-2010, Robert Parker, Dec 2002

Argiolas' 2000 Korem (produced from indigenous varietals called Bovale Sardo, Cannonau, and a touch of Carignan) is a barrique-aged offering. Aged 12 months in French wood, this deep ruby/purple-colored 2000 exhibits aromas of graphite, black currants, tobacco, and a hint of leather. Full-bodied, deep, and concentrated with noticeable structure as well as tannin in the finish, it is less accessible and seductive than its two less expensive siblings. Six to twelve months of cellaring should result in a promising red to enjoy over the next 7-8 years. A Leonardo Locascio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620

(a blend of mostly Sardinian varieties, made in a combination of barriques and stainless steel) Deep red-ruby. Plum and roasted oak on the nose. Ripe, dense and fat, with slightly high-toned plum and redcurrant flavors and a suggestion of ash that may be from the wine's strong dry extract. Lovely inviting sweetness is nicely leavened by sound acidity. Finishes with dusty, building tannins and very good persistence.
