Note di degustazione
Reticent aromas of soft citrus fruits, peach and flowers. Sweet, pure, peachy fruit nicely framed by ripe acidity. Luscious rather than particularly mineral in character, with modest complexity and very good persistence. The crop level in 2005 was just 20 hectoliters per hectare, down 35% from 2004 levels, and these virused vines were pulled out after the '05 harvest.

Gather this particular rosebud while you may as this is the last vintage of Lafon Desirée that will be produced for many a year as the extremely senior vines have been pulled up. Fine, floral, very linear and sikly texture, this wine was not especially expressive on the nose but had a stunning texture. Dominique pointed out that although it notmally seems particularly winning in youth, it actually ages much longer than you might think. (JR)
(the last vintage from these vines, which were recently pulled out and will be replanted in a couple of years) Sexy aromas of peach, apricot, smoke, butter and charred oak. Powerful, chewy and superripe, with nearly exotic flavors of apricot, peach and clove. This, too, has sound acidity and a tactile finish.
