Note di degustazione
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru offers darker fruit than its peers with Doris plum and raspberry intertwined and just a background scent of cassis. With aeration, there is a hint of red brick and maybe just a mote of dustiness. The palate is sweet and candied, very plush with silky tannins. Yet it feels a little over-macerated so that the second half feels a bit monotone. It is not unattractive but, strangely for this vintage, it might pall after a couple of glasses. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Mid crimson. Has the ripeness of fruit that I noted on the Chambolle Musigny Vieilles Vignes. A touch of dried cherry. Embryonic and quite hard to judge, but it has good fruit depth and super-smooth tannins. A very slight bitterness on the finish? (JH)
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has an expressive bouquet with black cherries, raspberry confit and light sous-bois aromas, becoming more opulent with aeration. The palate is sweet on the entry, rounded in texture with wild strawberry and raspberry, white pepper and thyme, harmonious on the finish, though not as complex as the Les Cras.
