Tasted blind. Mid crimson. Slightly charred note on the nose. Fairly light and transparent. Lighter than most but a bit simple overall. (JR)

The 2014 La Couspaude offers quite powerful aromas of red berry fruit, meat juices and dessicated orange peel on the nose, intense if just missing a little delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a sumptuous mouthfeel, more like a 2009 or 2015 in style. There is evidently a lot of oak here and whilst that knits theis Saint Emilion together, it does rather denude it of personality and terroir expression, especially on the finish. It is enjoyable but not such an intellectual wine.
Mint, blackberry, rich and layered on the nose. Lots of clove and cinnamon spice too. Dry and fibrous on the palate and that oak spice dominates the finish. Firm tannic grip offset by bright acid. Lots to enjoy here. (RH)
