Note di degustazione
The 1982 Saint-Pierre is lighter on the nose than the 1982 Gloria with airy red fruit, damp earth and mint. There is something almost Rhône-like about this Saint-Julien. The palate is mature, a bit bretty, modest depth with slightly dry tannins. Not unattractive yet rather one-dimensional in context of the vintage.

Fully mature, the 1982 has a dark garnet color with some amber creeping in at the edge. The wine offers up a big, smoky nose with licorice, cigar box, cedar, and sweet cherry and black currant fruit. The wine is lush, medium to full-bodied, low in acidity, and very expansive and user-friendly. Anticipated maturity: Now-2007. Last tasted, 9/02.
Sweet and jewelly in its appeal. Bit metallic on the palate. Too hard to give pleasure. (JR)
