The 2004 Chateau Nairac is closed and reticent on the nose with light pineapple and citrus peel scents. The palate is nicely rounded and viscous on the entry. There are light scents of orange peel and dried apricot and a touch of spice, leading to a linear finish not unlike the 2005 Nairac. There is a pleasant bitter note on the aftertaste that lingers in the mouth, finishing off a Nairac that exceeds my expectations. Drink now-2024+. Tasted March 2014.

Old cask sample . More oily, not very aromatic. Slightly bitter but still shows a freshness. Strong almond note at the end. Not a very fair tasting – I think the sample is a bit tired. (JH)
Sugary, simple nose but big impact because there is so much alcohol! Broad not fine but no shortage of impression. (JR)
Pale gold. Clean, ripe and pure on the nose, with stone fruit and citrus aromas complicated by minerals, clove and vanillin oak. At once fresh and ripe in the mouth, with intense flavors of apricot nectar and orange. Finishes ripe and long, with a strong spice character to the fruit flavors, and firm spine. Very promising.
