2019 La Marzelle

The 2019 La Marzelle has an intense nose of black cherries and a touch of sous-bois and game, nicely composed and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded, pliant tannins and a sweet core of plummy fruit mixed with touches of peppermint and allspice. Good length on the finish. Very fine.

The 2019 La Marzelle is lush, forward and absolutely beautiful. Succulent red cherry, plum, spice, leather, tobacco, blood orange and espresso infuse the 2019 with notable complexity to play off its exuberant personality. This exotic, full-throttle Saint-Émilion is a real head-turner. Tasted three times.

Half-bottle sample supplied. Healthy deep crimson. Spicy, high-toned nose. Sweet, polished palate with vibrant fruit that almost distracts from the considerable ripe tannin. This is modern (but not pastiche) St-Émilion. Good individual components that should marry pretty well before too long. (JR)
