Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2021-2028, Neal Martin, Mar 2021

The 2018 Les Hauts de Lynch-Moussas, which is classified as an Haut-Médoc rather than a Pauillac, has a high-toned bouquet that is missing the refinement of, say, the Haut-Barges Monpelou that also comes from the Castèja family of properties. The palate is sweet on the entry, featuring kirsch, black cherries and cassis; forward and energetic but just missing some finesse toward the finish. Not bad and quite fun to imbibe, but maybe one to drink over the next 6–8 years.

The 2018 Les Hauts de Lynch-Moussas has a perfumed, very floral bouquet that you might mistake for a Margaux. The palate is medium-bodied, rounded and generous, with supple tannins and dark chocolate toward the finish, where the oak comes through a little too strongly. Hopefully that will be assimilated by the time of bottling.

Lovely density with pretty, ripe tannins and spicy undertones. Medium-bodied and fresh. Lovely finish. Excellent for the second wine of Lynch-Moussas.

The 2018 Les Hauts de Lynch-Moussas is a fruity, supple wine to drink over the near and medium term. Cedar, tobacco, licorice and spice add character to the dark red berry fruit in this expressive, inviting Haut-Médoc. The 2018 is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Merlot.
