The 2014 Cantelys is a soft, approachable wine to drink now and over the next few years. There is lovely aromatic presence to match the dark stone fruit flavors. The Cabernet Sauvignon is quite expressive in this very pretty, delicate red from Daniel and Florence Cathiard.

The 2014 Cantelys is quite pretty in this vintage. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco and game meld together in an unusually silky, polished wine for this site. Sweet floral and spice notes add lift on the finish. There is a lot to like in this attractive, mid-weight offering from the team at Smith Haut Lafitte. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot.
The Château Cantelys 2014 is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot that is aged in 20% new oak. Initially, it feels backward, a little broody on the nose but opens with dark berried fruit mixed with bay leaf and tobacco scents, a little rustic perhaps, but charming. The palate is medium-bodied with powdery tannin on the entry. It's a stocky little Pessac-Léognan: foursquare but with fine delineation on the finish. I suspect it will require a couple of years in bottle.
50:50 Sémillon/Sauvignon Blanc. Rich and crème pâtissière on the nose. Sweet start and then lots of acidity. But very precise. Just falls away a bit on the finish. (JR)
