Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2026-2042, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Feb 2022

Enticing from the first moment, this is still extremely young and will benefit from another 3 or 4 years in bottle, but is already showing succulent damson and raspberry fruit, laced with espesso, rosemary, black pepper, cigar leaf and sage. Nuanced and great quality, less overbearing in its oak than some of the older vintages. Blossomed since En Primeur, and one to look out for. 40% new oak.

Diam 10 closure. Mid straw. Opulent, oaky/oily Pessac-Léognan sort of nose. Broad on the palate and very winning. Bouscaut style! Lemon oil but very refreshing with an undertow of richness. (JR)

Punteggio 86/100 · Da bere 2023-2030, Neal Martin, Mar 2021

Just as I found out of barrel, aromatically speaking the 2018 Bouscaut is missing a bit of fire in its belly. It comes across as rather static and it needs more lift... more oomph ! The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, dusty black fruit and quite an austere finish. It’s just a little dour in the scheme of things.

On another level, the 2018 Château Bouscaut brings a much more regal, complex, layered style in its cassis and black raspberry fruits as well as notes of flowers, lead pencil, damp earth, tobacco, and chocolate. Beautifully textured, medium to full-bodied, and elegant on the palate, this is a gorgeous Pessac-Léognan with loads of class. Enjoy bottles any time over the coming 10-15 years. It's the finest vintage I've tasted from this estate.
