2019 St Aubin Rouge Derriere Chez Edouard V V

Offering up aromas of dark berries, exotic spices, orange rind and loamy soil, Lamy's 2019 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Rouge is medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a velvety attack that segues into a youthfully firm, chalky finish. This, too, will require a bit of patience, but it's very promising.

The 2019 Saint-Aubin Derrière Chez Edouard 1er Cru conveys a sense of airiness and "space" on the beautifully defined nose of Granny Smith apples and freshly sliced pear mixed with wet rock. The 2019 Saint-Aubin Derrière Chez Edouard 1er Cru has a complex bouquet with green apples and a light, almost algae-like note, which probably sounds more pejorative than it is. The palate is well balanced with very precise mineral-driven citrus fruit that gains weight towards the finish. This fans out wonderfully and it will age for many years. Superb.
