Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2024-2032, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Nov 2024

A near perfect growing season presaged the birth of this impressive La Poja as the ripe, healthy grapes were harvested in ideal conditions. Not surprisingly, the wine is now showing some brick shading at the rim while the gorgeous bouquet that emerges from the glass is moving from primary to tertiary. In the mouth, the wine is deliciously dry, with red cherry fruit, savoury-herbal notes, dried fruit and undergrowth. The oak, tannins and still firm acidity are well balanced and integrated. This mature wine is giving a great deal of pleasure now and for the for-seeable future. But not one to hold onto for too long.

Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2024-2028, Decanter, Sep 2024

A complex array of aromas, from sour berries and juniper, to violets and eucalyptus, and then leather and sweet spices lead into a palate with great depth of ripe, round tannins and a long, minerally finish with an intriguing note of samphire. Weather conditions were just about all a producer could ask for in 2006: warm and dry in June and July, rain when it was needed in August, and a return of long, sunny days in September and the first part of October, with notable day/night temperature excursions. Outstanding.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2022-2028, Eric Guido, Vinous, Apr 2022

The 2006 La Poja takes some time opening in the glass, wafting up with an airy mix of crushed black cherries, sage and nuances of dark chocolate. This is elegant and poised, yet also rich and pliant, with ripe red and black fruits that soothe the palate as balanced acids maintain remarkable freshness. It finishes long and lightly structured, leaving sweet tannins to linger, along with a bitter twang of sour berries under an air of tobacco. There’s no fear of decline from this incredibly pretty rendition of La Poja.
