The 2021 d'Agassac is a bit stern, but it offers good potential. Blackberry, mocha, licorice, spice, espresso, dried herbs and chocolate build in the glass, filling out the wine's frame nicely. This is well crafted for the year.
The 2021 D'Agassac marks the final vintage overseen by Jean-Luc Zell, who has performed admirably at this estate. It possesses a fruity, elegant bouquet with aromas of cassis, blueberry, spring flowers and licorice, followed by a moderately weighted palate, a long, fruity and velvety mid-palate and a fresh, penetrating finish. Despite being slightly less fleshy than usual, it maintains its status as a reliable choice. This is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
Rich plum colour, as with En Primeur you can expect lean and savoury blue and black fruits right from the first moments. Has a sappy charm to it, with clear spice, but it lacks momentum through the palate. 40% new oak.
