2018 Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits

The 2018 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits is dark in color. The nose makes an immediate impression, delivering blackberry, bilberry, incense and light chalky scents that build in intensity. The palate is rustic on the entry with touches of capsicum and bell pepper, crunchy black fruit and a fresh saline finish. Very Cabernet Franc/Loire-like in style, it comes across a little raw, especially for those seeking a rounded, fruit-driven Pinot, but I appreciate that it wears its heart on its sleeve.
