The 2011 Vecina is dark, savory and beautifully layered, as wines from this Oakville site tend to be. Medium in body, the 2011 has reached is first plateau of maturity. All the elements are so well balanced. Dried herbs, leather, tobacco, cedar and iron are woven throughout a core of dark fruit in this expressive Cabernet from Vine Hill Ranch, one of the finest sites in all of Napa Valley.

Black cherry, tobacco, cracked pepper, juniper berries cedar, leather, dried herbs and smoke are all finely sketched in the 2011 Vecina. Savory in its aromatics, yet also quite deep, the 2011 possesses remarkable concentration, especially within the context of the vintage, not to mention terrific overall balance.
Full medium ruby. Quite tight and a bit of a shock on the nose following the explosive 2012, with black cherry and licorice aromas showing a slight herbal greenness. Penetrating flavors of black fruits, licorice, mint and herbs are accented by spices and pepper. In a distinctly medicinal style, finishing with serious, slightly dry-edged tannins. Comes across as much less dense and rich than the 2012 but this is still folded in on itself.
One of the more voluptuous, ample wines in this series, the 2011 Vecina is endowed with a real sense of class. Dark red and black fruit, smoke, new leather and licorice blossom in a surprisingly rich, powerful wine for the year. This super-expressive, resonant Cabernet Sauvignon hits all the right notes. Hints of sweet tobacco, licorice and menthol add the final notes of complexity.
